Hello,
I have a 2008 C5500 Shuttle Bus. My rear heat stopped working last month and I’m not sure why. Blower still pushes out air but it’s cold air. I checked the open and close valves but it still blows cold. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!

Coolant Leak? Or you hit the shut off valve in the engine compartment which isn't routing coolant to the rear heater.

Your coolant levels good? Check under the hood, most of these rigs have closed coolant systems so you might see a reservoir on one side or the other, not a radiator with a cap.

And for goodness sakes, check when the engine is cool!

Yeah that's what I'm saying because coolant flows, and if the engine is running it's gonna be warm, so if it's running and those lines are cool to the touch, you either shut them off, at the engine, or you're leaking coolant. Can't really be anything else.

I didn’t know there was shut off valves in the engine compartment (Do you know where they are located?). I know there are valves underneath on the divers side and they are fine.

Coolant level is fine unless there is another reservoir somewhere.

I will have to check the engine compartment because I don’t know where those valves might be

Trace the lines off of the Radiator, you'll find some ball valve items, one set shuts it off to the engine, there's another set that may lead to them going to the back of the bus.

In the engine compartment.

Do you possibly have an additional coolant pump that has stopped working?

Thank you! I will check this weekend. I did forget to mention….The heat up front where I drive works perfectly fine.

If your front heater works, then maybe someone installed ball valves post front heater? Would be unusual but not out of the question. Follow those lines from the front heater then for any kind of shut off.

Will do! Thanks!

Here are some pics of my motor. Do you see anything I should be looking for?

Not sure if there is another pump. I will check this weekend. It’s funny because the heat up front (Drivers area) works fine.

If the rear is at the lowest place in the system the core may be plugged up. You can drain the heater and back flush the heater core with a garden hose. Back flush both directions to you get clear water coming out and you should be good to go.

What if the front heat is blowing hot, do you think they would be running off the same system?
Thanks!
