Refinishing original windows

Hi,

I've been searching around the internet to find some new rubber gaskets for my windows. I'd like to use my school bus windows but the rubber gasket around the glass is all cracked/dry/broken. Would anyone know of a source for new gaskets or a method to seal them up? I was thinking about trying to use butyl caulk but not sure how well it would work. I did find out new latches are only 85 cents, probably the cheapest part yet.

I hate to say it, but a automotive glass shop should be able to either sell you the supplies you need or be able to tell you where to get what you need.

That's where I'm headed after work to see what they say. I have a couple broken windows that need replacing too, so I'll get a quote for those while I'm there.

I tried them, no luck. Waiting on Thomas to get back to me but doesn't look like they stock them anymore.

The glass shop said to just use silicone​. The glass seems really loose in the frame for just silicone. I guess I can try one and see how it goes.

I've been searching for a few more days, didn't come across anything. There are companies out there that will make a custom seal for you but it wasn't cost effective. I've decided to use the old seals as a sort of spacer and silicone between the frame and the glass...we'll see how well it holds up.

McMaster-Carr has an abundance of seals / weather stripping. Might be worth checking out.

This is an old thread... now that I see this, I can't delete this reply... Leaving it for posterity.

Thomas does carry the parts, it's in their accessories manual. Check here for the part #, then call Thomas and ask for the price. When I priced mine out a couple years ago, I believe it was about $3.50 per.
