Refrigerator question

The propane fridges were always so picky. Needed to be level so they don't burn themselves up, and the pilot would often blow out while traveling.

I'll assume the newer ones are better as well as much more expensive.

Much better. Haven't had problem one. We love it

Ok thanks cause I'm trying to conserve genny use.

There is a better way than propane. The dual-fuel fridges are real power hogs.

A smaller domestic fridge and a decent battery bank is a better option. Feed the fridge from a small, sine-wave inverter and just run the genny occasionally to re-charge the batteries.

Hey Tango,
Did you already purchase yours or looking for better pricing as well? If so where did u purchase from? Hoped to see them on Cyber Monday.....but nooooooo/:banghead:

I just bought a Dometic fridge/freezer - I love it. I was expecting it to draw more from the battery - but it is very efficient. I use 110 when I am at a park - and 12v otherwise. Seems to be more efficient on 12v.

It isn't. It has heaters in the rear. Either 12V or 120V or propane, it takes what it takes to keep the fluid circulation.

Either way, it is about 4X less efficient than a modern domestic fridge. That doesn't make it a bad fridge, merely one that increasingly appeals to a smaller group of people.

Given the cost of Dometic fridges, it's worth looking at the super-efficient 12V marine compressor fridges. They are very pricey though.
