I'd like to add that, from what I've read, when you add spray foam insulation, it gives you more structural stability as well. So you might get back almost as much stability as you put in once all's said and done.
I agree with Mydog, I'll take the increased comfort/insulation/effort package. If there's an accident, I'll probably be more worried about breaking or being broken by all my things coming at me and smashing around. I'd rather focus on safety and maintenance, than hope the original interior will protect me and my stuff better than a foam insulated interior.
