not in need of this right now but a local parts company is going under and has an auction, so im curious how much stuff is worth and and if im looking at the right things.

im looking for your opinions.

i have and want to replace a 93' cummins 12 valve, with a 190 p pump. allison transmission conversion.

the auction has a '99 24valve..... whats that worth?

and a '99 5.9 isb block. same question.

are these parts i should follow to replace my 12 valve?
are 5.9s universal? is the mounting flange for the trans the same between '93 and '99?
idk
i don't want to replace the allison, just looking for insurance on the cummins.

That engine reman'd or? Reman'd they'd be worth 3-5k, used as-is thousand bucks max.

Block is 500 or so, so long as it's bore is okay and stock sized. If it's overbored it better be fresh or it's no bueno.

Both can be made to work with your 12v parts. Be sure neither is a 53 block. It's not the end of the world in commercial use, but in truck use nearly every one will be cracked.

What's the auction link?

If you need it you can go more then a grand. I just watched a dozen 6bt's as-is go for 500-1500. 6BT has more value then an ISB-5.9, hence my statement of no more then 1000. I'd keep an eye on that block. It's real cheap if it's usable. It doesn't list miles, so it might be worn out, but still worth more then 15 bucks though.

when it comes time to repower.... is it cheaper to just buy a new motor like from industrial injection than to have a mechanic rebuild the block i have? new from industrial is is about $11k.

i dont need the motor, just something i keep an eye out for.

do i buy the block and then a kit... then have a mechanic build it?

sometimes i see parts like this and i think i need them, but they end up being useless and and just cost more than if i didnt see them at all

.

the auction ended and i didnt bid.
the engine went for $1300, the block was probably a deal at $325.

sorry to see the truck shop go. it was right outside of denver, on my way in, so i saw it every trip. by theyre reputation, it would have been the next geographic place to take my transmission swap to if i couldn't find a local guy.

11k is pretty expensive, but that depends if it's installed with fluids, hoses, filters, etc. Also the warranty length can be a factor as well.

Rebuilding your own core is nearly always cheaper, but a lot of them don't come with a warranty, and most people don't want to rebuild one just to sit on it for a "maybe someday". You could have used the 24v block, if it was indeed usable. Your 6bt front cover, pump and accessories would have swapped over. I'd have found a reman/recon 24v head, and then made or bought the right injection lines to fit your P-pump. I think the last isb we rebuilt(several years ago) was right at 8k installed. And buying that head could be expensive. Years ago atk had reman heads like that on the shelf and they were decent quality. I've not looked in their catalog in a while.

24v parts seem to be cheaper then 12v parts. Guys with 12v parts always feel they're sitting on gold.
