I'm Robert Richtersz from The Netherlands and i am looking for an old skoolie. There are off course not as many of them in Europe as they are in the US but we will find one.
We are now negotiating on an 1989 International pre owned by the US DOT, We'll keep u posted

I vacationed in Rotterdam several years ago. What part of the Netherlands are you from?
I tried some stuff called vla and cannot find it anywhere here in the states!

Well, thank u EastCoastCB. I am from Tilburg, that about 80 kilometres from Rotterdam. Off course I know vla. It's quite similar to custard with vanille and sugar.

What possible reason could the US DOT have for owning a bus in Europe?
What possible, believable, reason could the US DOT have for owning anything outside of the US?

I don't think the US DOT used it in Europe, why should they indeed. It isn't said that the bus isn't imported some years ago. It could also be possible that it was a bus on a US base in Europe. I don't know, yet...

Just yankin' your chain, more of a statement about gov'ment wastin' my money than anything else.

I saw a garage with two beautiful restored 60's Ford Mustangs while I was in Amsterdam. Was an odd sight for sure. Most of the cars over there are very tiny.
Your bus may be one of the largest privately owned vehicles in your country if you get it!

U might b surprised. Here r a lot o people restoring old cars, trucks and buses. A large group of those people here in Holland are great admirers of American cars, so there r a lot of those old Americans. 4 example:

and the Skoolies r very often used as party buses or u can rent them with driver:

They bus i'dd like 2 buy is for private use and will be a camper. Now i know the asking price is € 5000,- without papers.

Not knowing the cost of stuff over there and what the euro converts to in dollars I can't really say how good of a deal that is. But the price seems to be reasonable for what it is. And I know the shipping cost for a bus to Europe is well in excess of $3,000.00. With the bus already over there you also won't have to worry about import fees that can almost double the cost of shipping.

Do you know which engine and transmission the bus has?

The government purchased a lot of buses exactly like the one in the pictures and they used them all over for all sorts of different purposes.
