Seat Rail Problem

So I'm talking with someone and they are having trouble with their floors right now. I recommended this site for everything else but I thought I'd post this right now so we can figure it out and get the floors removed. So they have the seats out and are working on floor removal. The seat rails are the main problem. The plywood is nailed in but the rails are put in with allen head bolts which all seem to be stripped. I'm curious if anyone here has any ideas on how to get them out. Normally if it was a bolt, I could cut a line for a screw driver, but I'm not sure if that's doable here. What are your thoughts? No pictures.

Apparently heavy-duty drill bits will let you drill these bolts out, but their ultimate solution was to use a cutting wheel on an angle grinder to cut the rail lengthwise down the middle and then pry it out.

I've also found that just getting really angry at recalcitrant parts of my bus sometimes works. I end up holding the battered part in my hand without being totally sure as to how I got it off.

Weld a nut on top of the stripped allen head.

You'll have a nice nut for your socket to grab and the zap of heat from the mig will help loosen the allen bolt. :thumb:
(weld on the inside of the nut to the allen head socket)
