should I bid on this?

Most definitely.

Ritchie Bros occasionally has some really good deals since most buyers at their auctions are there for construction/farm equipment.

Only thing I can find wrong with that bus is that it has Peterbilt wheels on it.

I'd think that with the interior already set up the way it is, all you'd need to do is rip the benches out of the back and build a bedroom, and add a shower. Pretty quick and easy conversion. (I'm assuming it already has hot water for the sinks and some kind of small fridge in the bar/kitchen section. edit: Oh, and add a stove/oven/something like that.)

It would appear to be a pretty good bus in pretty good condition.

The 8V-71 would be a great engine in flyover country. Here in WA it is a bus that is stuck in the sloooooooooow lane on any hill and stopped in the breakdown lane on any long hill in the summer as it waits to cool down.

The genset is going to be worth nearly as much as whatever the bus gets.

$7K-$8K would be the top end for bidding for me.

If anyone is serious about this bus I would be willing to go look at it. The Chehalis RB Auction yard is a mile from my house.

I put 250k miles on an 8v71 equipped Eagle model 10. It was no speed demon on big hills but you may be overstating just a bit.

I ran 4th of July pass (I-90 over the Rocky Mountains) in August and managed to pass a number of trucks and no overheating trouble. If I recall we hit the top running 35-40mph.

I really do miss my 2 stroke Detroit's.
