Looking for advice.

I am looking at this bus:

This previous thread lays out my situation a little bit.

Looking to convert a skoolie for family adventure travel. I am not a mechanic and will need to hire-out much of the early conversion work.

Priorities for me are shorter wheelbase (so we can get into more campsites) and a rear-engine (maximize interior room, reduce noise, etc.). Originally, I was focused on Thomas HDXs.

This is a midship engine. Super cool looking and I've heard great things about Crown quality.

How much more difficult will it be to convert, and then maintain, this 1990 Crown,...compared to a newer Thomas, IC, or Bluebird RE?

Much appreciated.

Thanks,
Bart

Cool looking bus. No bulge in the floor where the motor is, so build out shouldn't be an issue. What is the ceiling height? What are they asking for it?

Being mid eng very limited space for waste tanks , I'm talking very very small tanks like maybe 30 gal, your going to need to keep eng access from inside which is what Greg Marvel did with his & he told me he was having trouble keeping smells out, Crowns are beautiful busses & hi quality solid built so list your pros & cons

Gosh, that sure seems like a lot of money for a high-miles bus. Sure, Crowns are pretty, and it likely has little rust, but you may wish to consider a less expensive bus and put the extra dough into the conversion.

Crowns are like old VW buses. They're fetish items held dear by a certain set of folks.
For the rest of us, there are regular buses that don't command such high dollars to play.
