Previous owner of my bus grinded off the hinges to the side emergency exit door. It’s in the middle of my bus. I plan to leave it as a door, but unsure if I’ll put the orig metal door back on, or custom make something else. Curious if any of you have done something creative with that door? Would love to see yours and get some ideas!

Since wood stoves are disallowed in buses by insurers, my half-baked idea is to build a sort of pod on wheels that contains a wood stove and exhaust pipe that can be rolled up to the side of my bus to connect with the side door opening. I'm planning my bus to be more of a self-propelled tiny house than an RV, so hopefully I will have a stable parking location where I can keep the pod. To do this I would also need to cut off the door hinges so the door can be removed entirely and allow the pod to be clamped into the opening. Most likely I would just replace them with a different kind of hinge that can be easily disconnected, although I'm not sure kind of hinge that would be yet.

Jeep Wrangler door hinges for both parties. Similar industrial style. Readily available in mass market. Some designed for easy door removal (when open). Use matching hinges on the door & heater pod for swapping peripherals.
