Hello Everyone,

I'm obviously new to this site. What a great source of information. So glad that I stumbled upon this.

I have the funds and am looking to purchase a used skoolie as soon as the right one hits my eye. With that in mind, I'm a retired single guy and not really needing or wanting all the space that a 40+ footer takes up. However, I'm not really wanting a short bus either. Do they make medium size diesel skoolies? If so, would any of you happen to know any particular makes and models that I should Google? Any particular engines or transmissions that I should stay away from?

I have so many questions but do not want to inundate those willing to help me. So I have to remind myself to take it slow :). Thanks in advance.

Geez Malkeri you weren't kidding. I'm only on page 26 of the first build you mentioned....lol.

How much have you learned so far? There is a TON of good info in every build thread. Best part is getting towards the end and seeing what changes they made to accommodate real uses and needs. Browncrown has built 1 of the nicest crowns and he just recently renovated to remove a dinette he never used and changed around his bathroom a bit as well. I enjoy the evolution that occurs as builders work and use their systems. That is the real gold here in my opinion, the building and hard work are just that and can be learned and gleaned from other trades and projects, but the wisdom of real time uses and thoughts of what should be different are priceless.

Everything you said is right on the mark. The building process is fun to watch but the real usage and seeing what works and what doesn't is priceless. I've learned an incredible amount just from reading Diesel Dans' posts. I'm keeping a log with web links to pertinent information as well as a folder of photos that I want to incorporate into my build. Like I said earlier, this site is a goldmine of great information. Ok, back to reading some more ;-).
