Skoolie Meetup 2020 events/schedule?

So,
I've made it back to the US and found a place in Wilmington, NC. I'm ready to become seriously educated about school bus conversions, hopefully finding a work spot and picking up a bus in early spring.

Does anyone know of upcoming events in the East, or better still a national schedule for 2020? So far, Google's only showing me 2019 or west coast events.

Know H.O.W. in Florida, in february there is a website for it. Kind of similar to tiny homes show but dedicated to homes on wheels, skoolies, vans, etc.

Another a bit far away is the Skooliepalooza in Arizona. Think it is in January, look on facebook for it.

This and the swarm are more of get togethers for skoolie owners, rather then a public show.

but i live 40 minutes from you in swansboro and another not real active on the forum member lives in greenville and he and his wife take there bus to wilmington area once or twice a year.

Yeah, I'm still in the feasibility phase, so the more educated I can become, the more I can understand if my goals/intentions are realistic. I want to convert a short bus, but I also want to have shower/toilet capabilities. I don't see many short builds with these features. So, the more I can visit people and learn about water storage designs/requirements, the more I can figure out if a small bus is viable.

Speaking of small and bathrooms, we have an old pickup truck camper that has seen better days and will become scrap when I get around to it. It has a bathroom 2' x 3', tiny but just enough. Just a toilet and shower, you sit on the toilet to take a shower, closing the lid of course.... Not the greatest but not bad either. So I do not see why this could not be built in a shorty. Might save the parts in case we do build our shorty.

I am not good with links and that sort of computer stuff, but look up Skoolie swarm on facebook and go to "events" and both Florida events are listed. The events are back to back starting february 1st in Ocala for the know how, and Doe lake near Ocala for the Swarm. From South Carolina this is about an 8 hour drive.

The Know H.O.W. is meant for people like you looking for info.

The Swarm is at a campground without hookups so you need to be offgrid capable. We have the entire campground just for skoolie's. Perhaps a day visit there? Just remember the Swarm is not a public show, but is a gathering for skoolies.

I will be going to both, be glad to talk to you, hope to see you there.

Discounts for vets and first responders as well.

I have no skin in the game but it's hard to find much for those prices anywhere.

Free if you bring your bus and let people crawl around it! but for sure the Expo is much more akin to a tiny house show without the tiny houses (or people who complain there were more skoolies than tiny houses at the event).

This is weird the comment about generators that showed up in my email is not here. I have a standard RV generator, so quiet but not honda quiet. Three days no sun is my limit.

The "tiny house show" I went to was like going to a car dealership. Lots of sales pitch and all that. I felt like a custie.

The Know HOW expo is being put on by the same people as the Swarm, Michelle and Travis (litlebluetraveler) and a bunch of other Swarm folks, so you know it's not gonna be like that.

The tiny house shows we've participated in, I would agree that a bunch of people with tiny houses bring them with price tags or are literally commercial manufacturers, and then the visitors make it to the skoolies and vans and box trucks and we're totally there to show off what we've done and talk about our experiences and inspire others. More than once I had a visitor confused by our bus not being for sale. When we've participated in those shows, commercial builders had to pay to be there to market their tiny houses. I've never been charged a fee for participating, in fact at least once we got a small stipend at the end, along with free camping and meals during the show.

The Know HOW Expo is basically that second part. We skip the tiny house builders and just bring in people who built their home on wheels and want to help others learn about it. There are some scheduled talks as well, I'm supposed to be doing one on staying connected while on the road.

I wrote that misunderstanding the thread I was in at the time. We've been to a couple events in a row where people are running loud generators all day and all night and that sucks for everyone around them. There for sure is a difference between that and people who need a few hours to charge their batteries back up, I'm about the same after 3 dark days of not doing anything particularly taxing I need to add some juice somehow and my generator is quieter than running the bus engine with the bank switch engaged!
