So I just filled the tank and pulled outside the truck stop ate lunch and started her up she idled and died . I removed the filter water separator and the mixture that came out of there seemed very watery so I replaced the filter primed it. And then removed the smaller fuel filter and dumped it and refilled it and cracked the line there and we know the fuel pump is pumping it doesnt seem to have air in the lines . Also when we crank her over it seems to puff white of thin smoke or steam out of the tailpipe .

White smoke is diesel not burning/burning right. Possibly a filter issue. Actual steam is all manner of bad. :nonono:

How about you start by telling us what you are driving? Mule, car, bus, spaceship? Is it a diesel? Are you ABSOLUTELY certain you filled with diesel and not gas? Do you have your receipt? It wouldn't be the first time that mistake has happened.

I like this crew...you guys are better than private detectives! You can track down anything in short notice! Love it! :)

I don't have a pornographic memory where I can remember everything someone wrote in another thread. If someone wants help, the least they could do is provide some basic information. I've never read his other posts and I'm not going to look for them.

Pornographic huh? or do you mean photographic?:whistling::whistling:

I know which one I'd like to have.

Don't be silly, who needs a photographic memory?

So it's a '97 TC2000, probably a 5.9 and 545. They seem to have difficulty with internet access. Starts and dies after fueling. Oregon isn't self-serve, unless you're on a reservation, so that decreases the chances of the mis-fuel unless it was a young new employee. Yeah, should say on the receipt if you got one.
Doesn't that sound like a bad electrical fuel shutoff valve? I've been wrong before.

I had similar symptoms on my Dodge 3500 with a Cummins 5.9 and found that I had lost prime between the lift pump and the injector pump.

It baffled me because the lift pump was working and the injector pump was fine. It was the air trapped in the top of the injector pump and the tail end of the input line (coming from the lift pump).

When I removed the input line from the injector pump and turned on the ignition it flowed LOTS of fuel. Turn the ignition off, reattach the line and try to start. Nada....

What finally got me going: poured fuel into the top of the injector pump until full, loosely attached the input line to the injector pump. Turned the ignition on and watched fuel squirt all over for 20 seconds then tightened the fuel line. Truck started right up.

The whole process above played out over about 6 hours of tinkering.

Don't know if this helps... If not maybe someone else has thoughts?

If all else fails: Southern Oregon Diesel-Roseburg Oregon 97470 I have had work done by these folks in the past and would not hesitate to call them again. Good (bus) People.

Good luck & safe travels.

Steve
