Starcraft split AC

Is there a way for me to run the AC system of my Starcraft split AC running from bus engine to my battery bank? Thanks a lot.

Then it needs the engine to drive it. You can't run it off your batteries. It would need some type of motor or engine to turn it.

I don't know a whole lot about electric motors, but I would have to think it needs at least 12-15 hp at a certain rpm to spin that compressor. It's possible to do that, and relocate the system, but I am not sure how it would work. It would require purging the system, routing to ac lines to the new location, mounting a motor and the AC compressor(s). I also think you are looking at a 220 ac motor. It is worth research though.

If you do the math you will find that 15hp motor consuming almost 12kw of power. Figure something around a 20kw inverter to handle the startup draw.

Now figure out what size battery bank you will need to support that load.

OTR A/C systems on a bus are huge compared to what you need when you are parked. Likely 50-60k Btu compared to the 12k Btu roof air or mini split.

Battery powered A/C is a tall order. I am considering installing close to 1800 watts of solar on my 40' Bluebird to accommodate a small mini split while parked in warm sunny weather.

Now if I had the system and the money, a small diesel pony motor could handle the load. Simple set up with an Arduino if temp reaches x energize a starter solenoid, when temp reaches y energize a fuel cutoff solenoid.

Yes I am considering to install a 2 cylinder petter / onan diesel. Why on / off,... just modulate the rpm so that it cools enough, ;less noise a well.

Will low rpm affect the compressor? That would be my reasoning.
