I haven't moved or fired up Brunhilde in almost 5 years. My brother says it won't start on a bet. What do I do?

Batteries will likely be dead. Plan on replacing. Fuel may be "stale". It may clog fuel filters. Get spares, several of them (especially if it's an odd part number). Consider fuel conditioner, it won't do much for what's in the lines but it may improve the quality of whatever is left in the tank. Check oil and coolant levels.

They say the best way to get the right answer on the Internet is to give the wrong one, so I'll help your bump by guessing what the right things to do are. For sure, I would think you'd want to change the oil and filters. Probably want to drain all the fuel and replace it with fresh stuff with extra additives and a new fuel filter (maybe a new fuel tank entirely? I'd be worried about the engine actually starting and then pulling a bunch of gunk into the injectors). Probably new batteries. I don't know if a transmission is ok just sitting for five years, so maybe replace the transmission fluid.

Really wrong answer: just turn the key and punch the ether start until it gets going.

Already have fuel separator and fuel filters on hand, as well as new batteries. I know I'm LOW on fuel, so adding more is in the future with fuel conditioners.

Stay tuned for future developments.
