bkwoodsvt here. i live in vermont and plan on taking a 7 month long road trip around the country next year. i haven't purchased a bus yet and would love to use this form as a way to learn from the skoolie community.

that's one of the reasons i want a short bus
Hello and welcome!

I would not necessarily assume that a short bus is going to be quicker than a long bus. It's not like you start at the front and build a foot a week or anything. Build time is a product of the interaction of a bunch of factors. Some of the major ones include: how much time you got? How much money? Can you work on it right at your house? And the biggie: how much complexity do you want?

You gotta have a plan. If you don't have a plan, you have no way to change your plan.

My plan doesn't look anything like it did when I started this project.

bkwoodsvt, if you're torn between a long bus and a short bus, compromise. Maybe a medium bus would work. On the other hand nothing drives or parks like a short bus.

Either you're considering doing a light build on your purposed shorty or you're much faster at building than the rest of us. I can see doing a simple build for a long summer trip around the country. You'll figure it out as you go along.
