Well tomorrow my wife and I will be driving to Salem OR to pick up our bus!
We don't have firm plans for it yet but the ideas have been flying around hot and heavy. So far we are thinking roof raise, toy hauler, motor home.

I have an old falling apart motor home to rob parts off of. Water tanks, stove with oven, roof a/c, ect... Not going to use the fridge. Going the small chest freezer turned into fridge route.

The bus is a 1993 International Genesis with the DT466 and MT643 Allison.
Just bought it last Friday on Public Surplus. This week has gone by really slow waiting to go pick it up! Went and got insurance and a trip permit to get it home.

Trip report and pictures when we get it. 😎😎😎

(Apologies for the sloppy Photoshop work: I'm supposed to be at work.)

Very Cool!! Congrats on your new bus!!!:dance:

Well it was a long day 600 miles, 300 of it in the bus. 300 miles took just over one quarter tank of fuel. I don't have a clue how big the tank is though!

Will try pictures here....

A little too tight to get by the trailer! Will move stuff around tomorrow.
Motor home is going to be a donor.

The bus did do 70mph on the freeway but I did not like the sound of it at that speed. The sweet spot seemed to be about 2400rpm @ 62mph. Sucker purred along nice at that speed or slower.

As a plus, the school district just did all the maint. items on this bus!!
Oil was so clean it was almost hard to see on the stick👍👍

Got the bus title transfer done today. Registered as a motor home. No inspection no questions asked. I only have about half the seats out at this time. They didn't care. 😎👍😇

I agree with the sound of the motor. a DT is rated at its most hours if you keep it at 2700 or below...

IHC rates them that the DT360 / 466 / 530 can be run up to 3200 RPM without harming the engine but they do state that the hours between major maintenance intervals will be shortened by running it over 2700 RPM.. the closer to 3200 you get the less hours you can count on..

they dont care in ohio either... they are just like stamp stamp print, type,,. ok here is your registration..

Wow! Any chance you can provide a factory cite for that data?

FWIW, the factory ECM config for the DT466 redlines it at 2600 rpm, and the DT530 is set at 2200 to 2400 depending on application. Both engines are way over their torque curves at these cycling rates.

Of course, the tractor pullers spin these motors well over 4000 rpm with 100+ psi of boost, so I'm all ears if there is a published spec that I dont know about.
