The Birth of Journee

I got the commercial for personal use Progressive policy. then called my agent and said the city won't let me park unless the title says MH. He called back and said that changing the title was fine as long as I didn't change the vehicle's intended use. Well- its a "mobile office, storage, and quarters". So it won't be changing.

Progressive absolutely WOULD NOT insure my bus, even for commercial use. We both live in FL so I wonder what the difference was.

On another note, did you get much damage to your property from Hurricane Irma?

They will ask you the manufacture of the motor home. When they can't find it in their list of RVs they will eventually figure out its a bus. That was how most of my conversations went with insurance companies.

Make sure you let us know how your process works. There seems to be alot of people having insurance issues.

Will do! Fingers crossed. It has the make as an AMTC, which is obviously a bus manufacturer. Maybe I'll hit up the local offices for more luck.

No not much damage. I took all the large trees off the lot over the last few years.

You probably got flagged in Progressive's system by saying something along the lines of "converted school bus". I just told them I was using it as a personal vehicle. Did you do it all yourself or go through an agent? An agent makes ALL the difference.

Progressive I called their 800 number. Allstate, who we do have insurance from, we went through an agent.

We are getting alot of flooding here. The river we live near is almost 18 feet above normal. anything above 12 is considered flooding. Here is a video I made of me kayaking down the streets in our neighborhood.

So the flooding was delayed reaction. That is deep water. Are the mosquitos getting bad yet?

Why is this guy selling?

I'm insured through Progressive. When I called, they said they don't insure directly, but I should call a particular agent who does commercial policies. She was able to get me set up. It wasn't cheap though, about $100/mo. It seems to be a Florida thing for bus insurance to be expensive.

this is all interesting ..I guess since progressive is based in ohio. they have different abilities and guidelines...

I called up progressive commercial and said "I have a bus that I use as a toy".. and they insured it.. that one is registered and titled as RV.. when I got the second one I said "add another one".. bus as commercial for personal use only. that one is registered and titled as a bus.. (non CDL as its 14 seats and under 26k), both have comp, collision, and liability..

No damage at my place, I cut down the big trees in my yard after I bought the place.
But my folks had a tree on the roof, and lots of big old pines down in their yard.

Did you tell Progressive you were going to live in the bus, or convert it??

Hey there! What part of central Fl are you in?:thumb:

Lake Mary, just outside of Heathrow. (But my bus is in Longwood for now, at FamiLAB, the local makerspace I'm a member of.) Speaking of which, is anyone else going to Maker Faire Orlando in a few weeks? I'll be there with my bus...

You busy this weekend?
We're getting together in Apopka/Sorrento all weekend. Should be at least 5-10 buses, but who knows.
