At long last I've got a bus!

It's a 1976 Dodge with a 66-passenger Wayne Lifeguard body. She has a basic conversion already inside. Though she needs lots of work to turn her into the completed Skunky Bus project, it won't take extensive overhauling to get her ready for a trip because the previous owner maintained her pretty well. The 360 V-8 is the same one that is in my Minnie Winnie; I can practically work on it in my sleep!

Here's a picture from my new album:

I'd get more pictures except the bleepin' computer I'm using right now won't read removable media. I've got plenty of pics on my digital camera and hopefully I'll get 'em uploaded over the weekend from another PC.

The deck is going to be a birthday or Father's Day (depending on when I get to it) gift for my gf's son's mobile home, replacing a very rickety porch stoop.

Psst: Buy stock in The Home Depot now, before I start working on my project.

Now the excitement really begins. I can hardly wait to dive into this rig. :D

GRATS!! I am thrilled to see you finally got yourself the bus you need! Really looking forward to pics!!
It's an animal print already too.. so when does the black and white get laid on her?

Good luck and stay safe on ride home....watch the over passes or sil won't have a new porch lol

Congrats! I've seen that bus on a few of my bazillion CL searches.

Several years ago I was driving thru. the neighborhood for the hell of it and noticed it in a drive way. So I started using that route just to see it. Then it disappeared. So I was elated to discover it on CL and that its owner just moved it to another property. Long story short: I didn't have the money to get it at first; was going to trade my Winnie for it, but a series of events kept that from happening. But personal upheavals kept the guy from aggressively seeking a buyer, and he didn't want to sell to someone who just wanted to pirate the engine and scrap the body. My fortunes changed in time to buy!

I plan on first raising the roof about a foot and doing some window surgery. I envision paint swooshes depicting a stylized skunk tail on the side - perhaps a splash of gray-green "spray." See "Skoolie in skale" thread in the Everything Else section.

Luckily, the bus is local and in an area where utility lines etc. are set up to accommodate semi trucks.

I think at long last I'll get working on it in the months ahead. I had all the ambition of Eeyore after Lin passed away in '16; last year I sold one house and bought another (now that was a bit€# of a task). Gonna add some pictures this week - including my design for the "Spirit of Linda Lee" logo derived from my lady's handwriting.

FIrst off, and most importantly, if I am understanding your post properly, my deepest sympathies. Lack of motivation is completely understandable.

Secondly, and back on the subject... That is a really cool bus. You generally don't see too much in the way of MoPar in schoolies....

Keep us posted on the progress!

Cool Bus..

Love the top deck and the paint. I am not much into cheetah skin but it looks good. I think I would have to keep the paint.

Lin (Linda Lee is her legal first name) passed away on Fathers' Day 2016. Dad passed 10 years ago so F-Day was already a bummer. Over the years Dad customized three Dodge B-vans and would have loved working on my skoolie. At least Lin got to see it, look in it, dream about it.

When I was a kid, the schools used GMC and International buses; I was awestruck when I saw a Dodge bus for the first time.

Something like this was her ultimate fantasy machine:

Now for a photo of my bus taken from the right camera angle - and my image editor...😎

Been doing some research on them. Dodge didn't produce much in the way of medium / heavy trucks and chassis, but they were in the market for sure, but more of an also ran. Their trucks, really weren't a major player in the market until the 1994 RAM redesign. Not saying they were a bad truck, they just struggled with market share compared to GM and Ford... Vans however is another story.... You can't seem to go one block around here without seeing a Dodge / RAM van of some sort... Been that way as long as I can remember, and I remember a bunch of decades now...
