Hi All! I’ve been wanting to join the skoolie community for several years now, and recently been seriously researching and looking for my bus.

I’m looking at an ‘03 Bluebird, flat nose, rear engine, 38’ long, Cummins 8.3l, Allison MD3060 transmission, 140,000 miles. It’s already gutted, has underbelly storage, tires look decent, some surface rust in 2 areas above the windows, no AC. It’s titled as an RV. Priced at $6k. Everything I’m reading tells me this is a good find.

It’s definitely going to be a process learning to drive it, but I like the space for full-time living. I don’t see myself moving around every week, but when I do, I’d like to tow a vehicle.

Looking for any thoughts or experience you’re willing to share - positive or negative. Thank you!

I’d recommend you find a mechanic - if possible - and have them take a look for any items that need attention before jumping in…just a little piece of mind before dropping $6k.

I have a BB with a Cummins 6.7 / Allison 2500 … I had someone look at it before buying, and after had him do a couple of maintenance items before driving home…

adding a hitch to rear engine bus will be challenging most i have seen or worked on have a cradle under the back that supports the engine so a custom hitch needs to be made.
