My wife and I went to the dol to get the title transferred and to put it in our name they want us to get an inspection and weigh the bus. Is this normal?

Not sure about your State, but whenever I ask DMV a question and I don't like the answer, I ask someone else at a different location until I get an answer I like. It usually doesn't take long.

Inspections are usually reserved for professional busses that carry students for hire. Yours is private, to be an RV. Each State has it's own rules- google is your friend.

Good Luck and Congrats on the huuuuge purchase !!

if your just getting the title transferred into your name, then NO.

If your not going to be running it on the public roads, it is only a possession like a farm tractor.

If you want the title to say "Motorhome" instead of "bus" in Washington you can still run into this. Regardless of whether you register it for road operation or not.

We got it done thanks to my wife who traveled to 6 different DOL's and department of revenue because all the DOL'S wanted it weighed, inspected by state patrol and wanted an appraisal for the taxes for not what we paid but what it's worth but there isn't a bb value for buses and once the lady at the department of revenue found out we bought it from an auction things went smooth and it's now an rv and in our name.

I am sorry I was not able to talk to you first. May have saved some running around.

I found an office just off Hwy 2 that makes it easy. I have titled/registerd 2 buses there and have sent others. They simply have you sigh the conversion afadavit and they value it at whatever you paid for it.

Where did you wind up getting it done?

I saved your number thanks for the reply she went to the one in Monroe, Woodinville, everett, mill creek, and dept of revenue they ended up giving her a form to take back to the dol so she went back to Woodinville and got it straightened out there.

Can I hijack? We just bought an 98 thomas and went to Barb's licensing in Snohomish to transfer the title. The lady said I have to go to the department of revenue to get the bus market valued for tax purposes. Is that common? Any way around it?
