Does anyone know what year the various transmission were introduced to the bus world? If I knew that it would make it easier to make my dream specs 😁

Which Body Builder? which Chassis? Which State?

Buses get spec'd by State, then District. You will find Blue Bird bus on International chassis, Ford chassis, etc.

Tell us what you want.

Thanks! That is helpful information, but I am looking specifically for the years that transmissions, i.e. Allison 1000, 2000 and other mfg started to be used.

Would be interested in viability of converting up from 4 speed Allison's to 5 or 6 spd and is any of these an OD unit ?

All except the AT545 and MT643 are overdrive transmissions. The MT643 has a locking torque convertor which the AT545 lacks.

The other series are 1000, 2000 and 3000

CadillacKid aka Chris is the guy to ask about transmissions, especially swaps, ESPECIALLY electronic transmissions with OD.
