If we didn't already have three school buses, an Eagle motor coach, a pickup, a jeep, a light sport airplane, and $50K in bus related debt... there's this: Public Surplus: Auction #3710960

Starting bid is $4500.00 and I don't think there is a reserve. There is probobly a good chance to get this bus for under $5K. They had about thirteen of them up for auction last month and nobody bid. I didn't want to poke the bear to find out if there was a reserve just in case there wasn't and no one bid against me. I think my hunny bunny might have a kiniption if I buy another bus before we sell one.

If one of you guys buys it, let us know.
We'd really like to see how a Hybrid Metro bus works.

By the way we will be looking to sell a 2001 Bluebird RE 40' activity bus, 8.3 Cummins, air ride drivers seat, air horns, cruise control, pass through under storage. I think the tranny is the MD3060. Seats removed and 2" of XPS foam laid down on the floor with 1/4" OSB underlayment on top of it. It was going to be our next build before we got the motor coach. Now it's just our daily driver. It gets about the same fuel mileage as the pickup truck, and it's more fun to drive.

We bought it two Februarys ago from an elementary school in Phoenix. We really do drive it back and forth to Deming, and Las Cruces for groceries and building supplies. No mechanical issues that I know of with the exception that the city horn beeps randomly. It doesn't stay on. Just occasionally give a little beep for no apparent reason. It is not the horn button. I took that out and it still happened. Must be some worn insulation on the horn wire in the steering column. I haven't pulled the steering wheel and taken the steering column apart to chase it down. It really happens so seldom and it's only a fraction of a second in duration so, it doesn't seem worth the extra effort to rectify.
She rolls down the road smooth and steady, and can run 75mph on I-10 no problem. Getting 11-12mpg. Not bad for a school bus. Our pickup with a 454 V8 gets 10mpg loaded or unloaded.

We'll post a more complete for sale ad, with pictures, a cold start and drive video, when we get our building materials, tools and solar panels out of it. Paid 8K for it, put two new 8D batteries in it and then did the floor before buying the motor coach. Would like to get that 8K back.
