Hi:

I was wondering if there were anyone that had considered putting a different (taller) windshield on their bus.

My glass are both scratched and I plan to raise the roof, so I was wondering if it would be feasible to locate a taller windshield and put that on instead of just replacing the glass that's there now. If it's possible, it should be done early with the body work. Otherwise, I'll look into replacing/fixing the current glass later in the process.

thx - Tony

It is not practical if your windshield is curved. Windscreens are made of safety glass and any glass shop will be able to cut it into any shape you want, as long as it is flat.

I just raised my roof 18" and considered a little more glass or a window, but the weather nixed both. One thing you should consider is when you add more glass you might want to dark tint the upper or you could really take a beating from the sun. Best of luck.

I think windshields are laminated. All the others are safety glass.

the bus i just sold had laminated glass in all the windows. if you've ever "cracked" one of the windows in your skoolie and it didn't get much worse then it's laminated glass. If you put a small "crack" anywhere in tempered glass the entire window will either shatter immediately or fall apart the next time you drive.

i don't know how other buses are put together. This was on a thomas body.

I don't know if you can see the window by the left side door, but it was broken when I bought it and it's in a million pieces. That bus is a Ward. I think laminated is more expensive than safety.
