Hi! Brand new to this forum and just started looking for the perfect bus.

We have traveled for the last 4 years in our self converted Ford Econoline that we've owned for over 23 years. We are currently working in California.

This is a big leap. We don't want a big bus, definitely looking for a short bus or shuttle bus. We've gotten used to the small space and the freedom it allows us. We just want to be able to stand up and have a tad more room.

I've been looking at online ads through Facebook and Craigslist, but recently started checking out busses at govdeals auctions. I have no idea how to go about this. Has anyone else used govdeals or any other auction site with recommendations?

We're looking forward to the upgrade and build process, but also worry about the reliability of a new (to us) vehicle since we love our "Bessie" and she's never left us stranded.

Because builds are so personal, and the more time you spend out on the road, the more you know what you want and more importantly need, we don't want to purchase a bus already converted, but would be open to maybe a bus that is prepped for conversion...is that even a thing?

Thank you for any recommendations...we're ready to be part of the kool kids

Getting a blank slate is not uncommon...a lot of people jump in then realize it's way more than they thought. However, it seems to me that the shorter buses are more desirable and command a bit more $$$.
I'd suggest you read up on drive trains, figure out what amenities you must have such as A/C, a H-cap door (or not) gas or diesel pwr. Then go from there. It's worth the effort to get a southern, rust free bus.
I'm sure some others will chime in on reputable sellers and on their experiences with Gov.Deals.
Best of luck!

Welcome!

Have you considered a shuttle bus? Nice height, lots of them available in a whole variety of conditions-many of recent vintage and with low miles.

And where in Cali? I'm in Sacramento area and there's a good monthly auction site that has both kinds of buses on a pretty regular basis-Bar None is the name. Very reputable.

I'd also like to add that there is a whole heckuva lot more converted or partially converted for sale. If you value your time and have some money, that is an alternative.

Having said that, of those I've seen advertised, very few appeal to me, mostly because of (what I think is obvious) workmanship issues with the conversion.

Welcome!

Have you considered a shuttle bus?

We have considered those as well, but would prefer the ruggedness of a school bus over the fiberglass that most shuttle busses are made of, but the right deal would change our minds.

And where in Cali?

We are in the Bay Area (Half Moon Bay) working through Halloween. I'll see what I can find on the bar none site! Thanks for the recommendation!
