Vintage (1960's) parts?

Hi Everyone,

We recently picked up a 1960/ 61 skoolie that's already been converted but needs some reno. Specifically, we need an original back door. I'm having the hardest time tracking this down.

Where should I be looking for vintage parts?

finding an OEM back door will be tough, if its a school bus you will want to find the Body manufacturer (superior, thomas, blue-bird,wayne etc) not the chassis manufacturer(GMC, IH, ford etc)...


there is a vintage school bus archives page on facebook.. lots of times people are out taking pictures of busses sitting in fields.. you may be able to ask around and see if anyne knows of these parts and if they are for sale..


if your bus is a Trip bus (big coach like a GMC, MCI, etc) then you can look up the 'Bus boys collection' they may have some resources for old bus parts..


you may have to fabricate something yourself or if your door is still there, rebuild it with new metal if its simply rusted out or bent.

Junkyards are another option. Found some interior panels for mine in a junkyard close to me.
