Found some pics Charlie, Built this in '82, sold it in 2013. [most of my pics are from a 35mm camera].
1776, dual 40's, auto craft rockers, engle cam, S&S pipe, mofoco big valve heads[rabbit plugs], kennedy clutch, 22 lb fly wheel, K&N filters, electric fuel pump, 009 distributor, super sucker oil pump, ...from what I remember off the top of my head
Mine was a '66 as well, first year of the ball joint front end.
The bucket body...not sure the make. I was the fourth owner, and the only one to get it on the road. Imported from California to Ontario Can. in the early '70's....pretty rough when I got it [$500.]
Here is one I did a paint job on for the local Art Car Parade a few years back. '63 PopTop (Big Logo) Westie as I recall. I do know the pop-up had been rebuilt somewhere along the way.

This was back in 2011. The bus has moved out of state but was still on the road last I heard.
Searched for a 67 Ghia Vert for many, many years until I found this one.
Have had it for 30+ years.

Pasture buggy that I scratch built using crashed bugs while I was converting my bus.
Front clip is from a 69 regular beetle, rear clip is from 71 super beetle.
All welded steel construction similar to an early EMPI buggy.
Wheelbase shortened 14" with mild, mostly stock 1600.
The wide fenders and running board, a treated 2x8, are extra wide so you don't wear or taste the cow pies....yeah, THAT kind of pasture...

My son and I built this one and he drove it to high school in early 90's.
Mild(reliable) 1776 with berg heads, dual pict 32s, header with heater boxes removed and other performance goodies.
And that whale tail!!

We found a nice clean 68 and did a mild restoration.

And numerous other buggies, Bajas, sand drag rails, etc. along the way.
My dad's first midlife crisis mobile was a red Ghia. Don't remember the year but it was old enough that the gas gauge was a lever on the front firewall that you kicked to access the reserve gallon of gas when you ran out.I've never owned a Ghia but they're beautiful. Especially the drop top model.![]()
Got a set of wheels/tires for the bug.

Got 4.5" for the front with some 145's and 5.5" for the rear with 195/65's.
Pics as soon as I get them mounted. They'll be here in a couple weeks mounted and balanced.
