I need a bus. It can have nothing done to it yet, or just be in the beginning phases of conversion. It's not so much about the work thats been done already, but whether it is mechanically sound (as much as one can predict a bus to be) and not be beyond my financial means for an initial purchase.

As I stated in my intro post a little over a week ago, I am a mom of two, in an abusive relationship, looking to create a skoolie, so that me and my children have a safe place to live. I can park the bus in the backyard of my parents, and will have their assistance converting it into something me and my two kids can live in, but it's up to me to find the bus and get it to their house. The sooner I can make this happen, given my situation, the better. Things just continue to go downhill in the homefront and I'm getting frustrated in my search for the shell of my future home. Purchasing the bus and getting it into my parents backyard is a huge part of my battle and doing so will relieve a huge emotional stress. It will feel like there is actually a light at the end of this long dark tunnel I am walking through.

With all of that being said, I am located in upstate South Carolina. My brother is willing to drive with me and do a round trip of anything 18 hours or less, so 9 hours one way. It's possible to go a little further if the bus is really worth the drive. The biggest thing is me being able to afford it, and it being mechanically sound and able to make the drive.

If you have anything that meets my needs, please message me, or text me into at 864-634-2170. Thank you

Unfortunately, you're in a tough spot needing to "escape" where you are quickly, and get a bus ready to live in.
Buying one already finished would be your best bet, depending on how much $$ you have and whats on the open market near you.
A conversion can be done in 30 days or so working 24/7, but unless you have a reliable helper, plan on about 6 months.
Hope that doesn't discourage you.
Good luck to you...

I have two reliable helpers until mid August. After that, school starts again not only for myself, but for my help. Just getting the bus is the biggest battle. All the ones on govdeals that are decent go well above my available funds. I’m checking eBay and some other surplus site, as well as craigslist.

You can also check different Facebook groups for skoolies and buses for sale, just know that prices on there tend to be a little higher... don't be afraid to negotiate the price down! If you have access to tools and all then converting yourself is a good way to go, but if not then I would definitely just look for an already converted skoolie. You can usually find something that is within your price range as long as you're willing to adjust your standards to reflect the price. Remember, you can always update the bus to your liking once you're living in it :)
