Well.. WE DID IT! YAY!!

Well, we did it.. we bought our new home, ministry "headquarters", and adventure bus.

With as busy as we are and only able to work on it one day of each weekend, holidays off from work, evenings during the extended summer daylight, and 4 weeks of vacation for the rest of the year, 10 months should hopefully be enough time to get everything finished. We have several friends wanting to participate in the build and two trusted friends who are diesel mechanics to ensure that we have safe and reliable mobility.

We are driving her to an RV and Boat storage tonight here in the area and will start ripping the seats apart out tomorrow! First getting all of the vinyl off and trashed, then to remove the seats and take them to the metal recyclers in the area for some extra cash for the build.

This has been a dream for about 6 months now and we are finally here!!

Wow - that's good headroom!! I look forward to watching your build. I am just getting started removing windows and skinning sides in preparation for insulation. Mine has around 73 inches of headroom, so I'm getting used to slouching when on the bus. Didn't have the experience/guts/patience to do a roof raise, so we'll deal with what we have. Welcome aboard!!

BTW, there is an excellent storage lot just off 99 and Harlem Road north of the new H.E.B. there. Wesley is the manager and he along with his staff will treat you right! We were there for about three years working on our bus, Heavy Fuel. He gave us access to electricity, chilled water, bathrooms, the works! The place is called Cube Smart. I gave them five stars!

WOW! Fantastic! I will definitely contact them for a quote. We hadn't decided on which lot to store it but have all of the applications for those that have space in Katy. This sounds like a perfect option.

We bought the bus from a very small lot in Cypress called Bus Barn of Cypress. The owners name is Jack. He sells busses, and rents U-Hauls and trailers. Nice guy, no fuss or frills, no hard sell. Just really helpful answered all of our calls and questions and gave us some information on insurance, registration, title, etc. and he had good ratings from previous buyers, and all of his busses are in pretty good condition.

Thanks so much TrailLifeBill! Yes it does have nice headroom. I am only 5'2" so any bus we bought would have been fine for me. My Husband is 5'9" so even after adding the insulation/flooring he'll still be able to stand up straight. We have a good friend of our who is a diesel mechanic and we're dropping the bus off to him in the next few days to get it checked out and in tip top shape before we can tackle the inside. We can't wait to get that part out of the way, we're beyond excited and anxious to get started!
