I was just chatting with our transportation director at my school district. On August 24th, he goes to the Board to get permission to seek bids on 4 buses. Two of them are 1991s with the 6.2 diesel little 1 ton van chassis type buses, one is a "bread truck" P30? Chassis with some front end issue, and then an older MCI Coach with 75000 miles from a major overhaul, it has a Detroit in it and the air works sometimes. I'll have more information after the 24th, but I thought I'd pass this along before I forgot.

In case anyone is interested, it looks like the above mentioned buses are going to auction this weekend. Here in Goodland, KS. Our maintenance director isn't too excited about it. He wanted to take bids, but the Board said sell 'em. So there's a large local auction on Saturday, August 29th here in town. I guess they're headed out there. One of the little buses needs new batteries and a couple of other odds and ends. Bob said it's not a priority for him right now to get these things to auction. He doesn't expect them to go very high. Let me know if you're interested, and I can get more information.

Auction results as follows in case anyone is interested in values:

1990 GMC 1 ton van chassis Carpenter 6.2 diesel, 178k, $1000
1989 GMC 1 ton van chassis Carpenter 5.7 gasser, 123k, $900
1992 GMC P30 "bread truck" chassis Carpenter, 6.2 diesel, 148k, $1000
1994 International 3800 series, Thomas, dt408, needed front tranny pump seal, 154k, 54 pass, $1700
1971 MCI, MC-7 (I think, might have been an MC-9), Detriot/Spicer manual, 209k, freon leak in AC, $3000

These all sold without being advertised in print or online. I wanted to by the 1990 or the MCI, but they just weren't the "deals" I was hoping for. :( I figured they went for about what they were worth. All were very well maintained and came from our local school district. I suspect the MCI will come back up for resale in the near future. I think a dealer bought it. All of the skoolies went to personal buyers.

I hope that helps someone looking for a bus...It helped me!

Ben.
