What do you think about this bus?

Some good things, others hard to tell.

It looks very clean to me - hopefully a sign that whoever owned it before actually took care of it. (Could be the seller cleaned it, but I've found that to be somewhat rare.) There's no dents on the panels, all the labels inside the compartments are there - it's those little things that make me think it was cared for.

The hard to tell things is there's no data on the engine or transmission, or gearing. Could be a great little coach, could be a great but slow little city bus. Need more information to find out.

Its got a Voith D863/4 transmission in it. Which means it has the cummins ISL 280hp. It should be a screamer. This is the first sub 35ft that has a voith that i have seen. Most come with Allison 300's. But the allison 300s come with ISC's. So if its has a voith then it has either and ISL or an ISM. It also means that instead of a wood bottom, its made of 1/2" thick piece of stainless steel :)

And you are right, its 29'. For some reason measuring a bus is an art and not a science. Ive seen low floors listed as over 10ft wide, because they measure end of mirror to end of mirror.

Wow, how did you find all this info?
From what I’ve read, Alisson transmission is better. Am I wrong?

I was looking at a Bus that had the same Voith Transmission before I got my Crown. If I recall correctly, the Voith's are very expensive to repair compared to Allison.

Process of elimination.

You get the Allison 300 till about 250hp, then they switch to the voith. You also get the isc up to 250hp, then they switch to the 9L ISL. So you will get a allison 300+ isc, or a voith+ISL.

As for which transmission is better, that is like ford vs chevy, whoever got bit by one, likes the other. The voith is kinda weird in how it works. first "gear" is liquid, and 2-4(if its got over drive) have zero slip/100% lockup. vs the allison that has lockup of 3-5/6 gear.
