what is purpose of top yellow lights?

1)So with hazards on round yellow lights under windshield flash as well as the little lights beside headlights and red lower lights on rear.
2)with bus flashers on the top red lights front and back wig wag(and stop sign comes out and lights flash

so what or when do the yellow lights on top front/back work?

Not sure on yours specifically, but with mine, if I activate the flashers with the door closed, the yellows flash. As soon as I open the door they switch to the reds, and the lights shut down once the door is closed again.

In CA, the yellow lights are activated 200 feet before the bus stops to load or discharge pupils to warn motorist's that the red lights are going to come on when the bus stops. The reds are wired with the door mechanisim so they will activate automatically if the driver should forget. Not sure what the laws are in other states.

Ahh that makes since since I had to get out of the bus to check them and the door was open...doh! ...I'll check tonite when it's dark

i changed my red ones to green so i never have to stop @ the stoplights...

My bus only had reds, and they are now painted brown like the bus so the California Highway Patrol and Department of Motor Vehicles won't get their panties in a wad, but they still work. What is a motorist supposed to do for "flashing brown lights"
