What is that bar on the front bumper?

I mean BAR, dammit. I can’t seem to change the title on this post.

I’ve been looking at busses and a lot of them have a white or yellow bar that is attached to the front bumper. What is that for?

Its a kid-saving device. It flips out when kids are loading/unloading. They have to walk out far enough that the driver can see and hopefully won't run over them.

Pretty sure you can edit the title.
I think the bar is to prevent people from parking too close, and making it impossible to pull away from a curb.

Nah, its rare a bus parks anywhere that cars can access. Field trips, yeah, but those are usually to places that have bus parking. Can't recall a school bus ever having reason to parallel park during route use.

Yup!
And if there's a car on the bumper, best hope you bought comprehensive insurance

The Skoolie application of the bumper bar is as an adult-beverage delivery system...

Hazardous only in excess!
And, if the bar is mounted on the bumper, it eliminates any temptation to imbibe and drive...
leave it to you to come up with something 'haz-ardous' - lol
Besides, ya can't argue against the analgesic qualities of a wobby-pop, or few...

If my bus had one I would have put a rummer stamper on it that says "I'm an ******* that cuts off buses" and hit the button every time someone cuts me off. Although as sad as it sounds I get cut off a lot less often since I stopped driving a yellow school bus.

That
Is
Vicious!

(Me likee)

Post a pic. Are you referring to the crossing stop bar that opens when the bus stops? It's to keep the kids far enough in the front of the bus when crossing to be sure the driver can see them.
