What is the cargo bay key tool called so I can buy one?

Hi there, yet another noob with what is probably a lame question but please help anyway ;-)

My 76 Crown coach cargo bays open with an "L"-shaped tool (was told it was a plumbing tool) with male fittings (different sizes) on each end of "l". I lost the <expletive deleted> tool during a crazy move. It might even be *IN* a cargo bay but I can't get in there . Now that I'm set to start my conversion, I can't even start her up (left the battery cables disconnected - behind a cargo bay door.)

Does anyone know what the tool is called? Where I can buy one? Please help!

A 1976 Crown will have cargo and compartment doors that have a round opening, but the mechanism behind it is shaped as a square. Any flat head screwdriver large enough to wedge in the square will open them.

Well now I *do* feel silly! Thanks so much for the suggestion.

:idea: It should have occurred to me that a standard driver would work for a square 'keyhole'. I have a nice big driver to try...

You may want to invest in some locks that someone with a screwdriver won't be able to open up. I've heard of a few folks who have had their batteries stolen... among other things. Some folks will steal anything.

No but know that it's been mentioned, I am going to look at that in the morning. I really don't need some jackass helping themselves to my engine bay.

The rear cargo door has a place for a padlock to go through on the safety latch so I do that and that is where all the valuables are kept. I do have a generator in what was the spare tire compartment, but it is locked to the frame. Beyond that, I havent put any locks on the compartments. What do they say, locks keep honest people honest? Not making light of it, but if someone wants to try and get two 8-D batteries which weigh 100 lbs each out of the unit and take about 10 minutes to do it, more power to them. Another thing, most of the aftermarket locks aren't strong enough to resit a good crowbar, so I really dont want my bodywork destroyed in the process of someone stealing. They are welcome to look around and if they decide they need a Detroit 671 engine, just open the door.

Hi skoolies.... All right, I'm betting what i had to start with was the toilet valve key - somebody who looked at it said it was a plumbers tool. However, the handy flathead screwdriver worked like a charm.
