What kind of fridge should i get?

I put in a standard household 120v fridge. We are a family of 5 and so far it works great. I would like to add a chest freezer but that's another issue. If it were just me and the wife, id probably go with a 12v overland style fridge like an IceCo or Dometic, but they are pricey. We have enough solar/battery storage that it really doesn't matter. I honestly haven't seen it contribute to too much power draw at all. I built up the walls tight around it but left a passage in the back and through the cabinets for venting. Working great so far. One of 3 pocket doors in the background.

We went with a DC-only Danfoss-compressor fridge (NovaKool). It was pretty expensive. The main reason for our decision was based on energy consumption. These things sip power. Compared to a conventional (AC) powered fridge of the same capacity, the savings are significant, and that's before factoring in the savings from not having to run your inverter to power them. I know a lot of people just throw more panels & battery at the problem, but not all of us want to or can have 40 linear feet worth of panels, and no matter how much storage you have, it only takes a few rainy/cloudy/snow days to drain even the most robust banks capable of realistically fitting in a bus. My methodology throughout our build has been to minimize energy consumption as a priority, and to this end, this type of fridge works for us.

I believe it's also much better suited to a (harsh) mobile environment.

When a failure occurs, the danfoss-owner generally will fix their unit in-place, as (at least this one) is designed from the ground up to be user-serviceable. When a failure occurs with a residential fridge, you'll probably roll into home depot and buy another one.
