Hello skoolies,
I have been stalking this site for a bit now and decided to join.... you see i to have bus fever.
I am looking to buy a bus for conversion this is what i am looking for
Diesel, automatic tranny, 54 pass or above, from about 1990 to 1997 ish
i have been perusing ebay motors alittle ... seems spendy
so Where did u get your bus
and what are some good websites to watch for a deal

i like the conventional look more<not flat nosed> but yeah that is a good deal ...i think i could warm up to a flat nose bus for the right price...:}

i got mine thought the school at the end off the yr best buys are thought them i got a 94 flat nose with only 35000 miles on it was thought the albama schools,so check your local schools or county,,,also check with them ,to see what axles they have under them,some states have busess with heavy axles under them and i find that is the best way to go,...
tenn,albama,md,ark,cal, ,,,heavy duty axles
GA,fla.miss,tex. light duty axles

and go for a blue bird,,,genniss are crap,, thomas is semi ok,wards are junk,,i have had all these,bb is the best build besides a crown bus but there in cal and the west cost....hope i don't hurt anybody felling,on how i feel about diff busess,BUT
the Ragging bull keith

well iam from Ga,so watch out,,,,,, thats why i got mine out of state ,,,, butch of wipes here in this state

so watch out smithy when i come rolling thought,,,,,your state hehehehehe

yeah im going to call that guy on monday...... errr tomorrow
is $2500.00 steep... cuz my friends said i should pay like a grand
How much did u pay for your bus?

2500.00 is not bad,, if it has not been run to death,check the miles on it, if lower than 150,000 a good motor will last you for yrs.i had a gas burner with a 5 speed when i live in alaska,it was a dog on hills,but would ran like a rape ape on the flats,so this time i got a diesel and an automatic .and a flat nose ,,runs good all the way around.................i live in the mtns of north Ga so i do alot of climing here in ga tenn,nc.

the old saying is,,,,,,you get what you pay for.

tellem smitty !

My '69 Chevy Bluebird gas burner will run 45 mph PERIOD. If you hit 46 mph shes SCREAMIN! For Christmas I think Id like Santa to bring me a new ring and pinion of a slightly higher gear ratio.
For the record, I inherited my bus from my dad when he passed away 2 years ago. I THINK he paid $100 for it 20 years ago from a church that blew the motor.

The probably blew the motor driving 46mph all the time. :LOL: :LOL: :LOL:

LOL could have been!
Actualy the story goes that they took a church trip to Denver for whatever reason and on the trip back home eastbound bucking a Kansas headwind lugging the motor at 30 mph in 5th gear after a big bang, it developed a bad miss. One of the mechanically inclined folks worked on it and determined it to have no compression in one of the cylinders. SO they decided the bus was worthless and dad bought it from the church for next to nuthin. Well, he yanked the motor and dropped in a fresh 350 4 bolt main out of a rollover Jeep. I remember seeing the smashed air filter and something on the carb was broken. Anyway, Dad and I pulled off the pan and found pieces of metal in there which turned out to be a broken up piston. And this is NO LIE the connecting rod had flopped over and wrapped around the rod opposing it. Yes stuff was banged up and chewed up really bad and there was a chunk missing from the outside of the cylinder wall that lost the piston. But the thing STILL RAN!!!

Lost internet connection for a while
we switched from a lime green lighted router to a green lighted router ... lol
but it is faster {clearwire/wimax if u know about that stuff}
also we spent then resaved most of our bus funds on our owned house { water damage that would raise our premium if we went insurance way }
meanwhile i got the book select and covert your bus into a motorhome on a shoestring .. by ben rasander
and read that....its cool
but also talked to my father inlaw { he works on large engines for a living}
and now i want a cummins engine in a bluebird flat nose puller about 88 to 96 and an onan geney
and have raised our price range to 2500 instead on 1000
thats the news we should have a bus by oct first if all goes well
fingers crossed
