Hello !

We bought a partially converted 2006 International BlueBird, which unfortunately doesn't have a driver seat. The previous owner threw it out and put a sofa there instead :/

We're trying to find a good price on an Air Ride seat, ideally not to buy it new. We are currently in Bend. Anyone has any recommendations as to how to find that? We called the local car junkyard, with no success. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks !

no idea what/where "bend" is...

Im in ohio and there are heavy truck / school bus junkyards all over that sell used air seats out of busses.. im guessing "bend" or nearby has something similar..

the mount plates are somewhat different for each bus brand but most can be made to fit.. make sure you have access under the bus to the driver area floor..

if you dont already have an air line run, you'll need to get a protector valve and install the 1/4" air line onto the Accessory air tank.. (dont just tap in anywhere)... the protection valve is important so your bus could still be driven if you popped the bellows in the air seat or the line blew... dont skip that part..

Any international parts dealer sells seats in their show room. If you are looking for used and cheap though, find junked bus in a junk yard. Seats often aren't taken.

I looked for a used air ride seat for three years before giving up. If a truck is junked in the inland Northwest, the seat is junk too. The few I've seen without numerous tears were $600-700. Bend (Oregon I assume) might be better, especially if you were willing to head into the bigger cities.

Most people agree that air ride is best, so I won't try to talk you out of it. Regular 'ol seats aren't that bad though. I eventually gave up on air ride and got two brand new takeout seats from a Toyota Sienna and mounted them on swivel bases for about the price of a sweaty used semi truck seat. They're perfectly comfortable for about 2 hours of driving before I need to stretch my legs.

Got my air ride on Facebook Marketplace from a guy who freshly retired and dropped his old seat back into his semi before cashing it in. Less than a year on it. There were no (good) cheap seats. looked for a year and finally sucked it up and paid what it was worth. 4-6 hundred isn't unreasonable.

Grabbed a 24 volt seat air compressor out of a Liebherr loader seat. Dropped a mini 12-to-24 volt inverter in and installed a momentary push button. Only downside is it takes two hands to air the seat up.... preferably before you start to drive.

I picked up two almost perfect Bostrom air seats from my local semi truck wrecking yard. They came out of a truck that had been in a wreck. I paid $500 for the pair and was pretty darn happy with that. As already mentioned the ones in junk semi's are usually really clapped out but if you can find one out of a wreck like I did it might have lots of life left in it. Sometimes the passenger seat is like new even in an old truck because it rarely is sat in.
