Hello! I posted about a week ago about my power steering pump leaking, tried the Lucas Stop Leak stuff and it didnt work at all. However it might have saved my bacon getting up to Truckee. Regardless, its a wet mess in the engine right now from what I can see as the bearing/seals behind the pulley just spraying the engine with power steering fluid like a garden sprinkler!
The bus is a 1990 International 3800 with the MT643 tranny 10 window model. From what I've been able to gather was that this power steering unit is a Seginaw, however my question is whether just any Seginaw unit would work? I'd appreciate some links on which one would work best as I haven't had any luck finding the exact looking one. I'm getting some new pressure hoses for the replacement unit, but the unit itself has been a bit of a challenge to find. I'd prefer to not remove it first, as the bus has to be moved regularly about 400 ft and without the current power steering unit in it would make it a roadblock lol
I'm heading to Napa Auto today and hopefully get some leads or maybe some kind of interchangeable aftermarket replacement. I wouldn't mind paying for an original but I just want to be sure the unit im buying will be the correct fitment. Im assuming the shaft size would be the most defining factor? Maybe a certain PSI rating?
Any info from you knowledgable folks would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
