Why would a 'built-in' microwave require 36"+ mounting height?

No of course not, but memories aren't required, just pure shear habitual reaction. Think about this, you are already consciously putting forth the effort to enter in a time, It's pretty sad that you cannot devote 1 extra second of consciousness to confirm it's counting down at the time you specified. If you cannot you shouldn't be operating a microwave!

You guys know I'm right, but you'll decide to gang up on me regardless cause it comes from me. So I'll await your retorts. But sane people will read this and understand who's on the right side of this argument.

I respectfully understand how that is possible, but my whole point is, This is why everyone should put 1 second "extra" of conscious effort to ensure the timer is counting down at the correct time you entered in before walking away.

I can't drive a car without these types of rules. Look left before changing lanes as an example or you will wreck.

It would never be an issue if one did this, and as with any appliance or vehicle, you need to use it correctly to be safe. If you don't, then yes of course bad things happen.

It's why we as a species have to have a safety warning on everything because a few cannot

There are plenty of handicapped people who use the microwave better than non-handicapped, and actually will take time to confirm the time they set before walking away. So I'm not even talking about them, but since you brought it up, if there were a handicapped person or naturally distracted folks who cannot do this reliably, then their care taker should ban their use of a microwave due to consequences that can occur. I'm sure they cannot afford their house burning down as a result. Or if you are trying to teach them (Slowly due to their issues), you need to as a care taker watch them and supervise until you know they can habitually do it every time.

I would ban my own wife from using one if she were like this, but I've observed over 18 years of marriage she takes the time to do things right. I wouldn't trust her around a construction site though as she constantly hits her head with a hard hat in those sites. She cannot focus at all on her surroundings, so she's not allowed on construction sites any longer and she admits she cannot do it. This is what one should do in this circumstance. Admit your faults. Either do better and improve, make it habitual, or decide to not use it. Sensible.
Dude, you bring forward really valid points, true points.

I'll say it, YOU ARE CORRECT ON YOUR POINT!

But your still only looking at one pixel instead of the entire picture.

The entire picture is the world we all live in.
Now how YOU conduct yourself, well that's one pixel.
How the rest of the members conduct themselves, more pixels to the picture...

As a friend, do me a favor, step into my shoes for a day.... we are not all built the same. we all have had different upbringings which is why the "picture of life" is so colorful!

Your not getting beat up on, just that's sometimes your thoughts are too sharp of an arrow tip....loosen up a bit and try to see the picture from a different angle.

And to tell you the truth, my wife always beats me up on the same thing, loosen up a bit and let's have some fun!

We all need to 'fess up, we are not perfect! We ALL have had and probably will continue to have "oh shite" moments in our lives because of...shite happens!
I got lot's of them!

There are many new RVs with the microwaves under the counter, in an island. I've seen quite a few 5th wheels like that. I've seen it in new houses too. Might just need to keep looking for the right one for you.

Furrion is a Lippert brand of RV microwave, I see no mention of where it can or can not be mounted in a manual I looked at.

B.S. I have absolutely nothing against you. Never did, still don't. If I take exception with or disagree with something you've said, I'd do the same regardless of who said it. And no... IMO you're about as far from correct in this matter as you can get.

Which bring us to this: You're literally saying you're immune to making mistakes. Which is, of course, utter nonsense. I don't need to know a thing about you to know you have in the past, and will in the future, injure yourself unwittingly. Should you have your breeding privileges revoked after cutting yourself with a knife? Stubbing your toe? All you have to do is pay attention to where the blade's facing, right? Just look where you're walking, correct? Not that hard.

Humans make mistakes. I can't believe I'm actually having to say as much, but here we are. And safety protocols - by and large - exist due to this fact.

why do you want your microwave so low? That would kill me trying to use one below countertop height. But I'm old and bending over hurts. My preference would be to have the top of the nuker at shoulder height or a smidge lower. That avoids bending over and reading the timer upside down :ROFLMAO: and having to reach up and waste a good meal by scalding your face with it.

Just a couple of thoughts from a simple uneducated hillbilly.

@Kentucky Dreaming, as one bumpkin to another (;)), it's because we're riding the short bus:nansplit: . And the short bus doesn't have much room left that isn't already spoken for with other things.

As for bending over, it's not too much of a problem yet. I'm hoping that by the time it is, I've shrunk in height enough to be eye-level with the microwave, negating the need for bending at all.

Good to hear. I don't think it has anything to do with this particular unit, however. Regarding the lippert documentation, that's a major pain point. If you look through as many as I have, you realize there are major inconsistencies. Many times the manual content is markedly different between models that only differ in branding / color. That was indeed a big part of my confusion... one microwave stated such a requirement, and another just like it didn't.

If my microwave is anything like my Glock I can control it better at eye level than at waist level.:indecisiveness:

Exactly. And when the bad guys come into our bus to steal my hot pocket, they'll be looking for me at eye level. Little do they know, however, is I'll be crouched below 36" trying my best to enter the correct time (lest my right to breed be revoked). That's when I hit 'em with a surprise nut-shot with the aforementioned snack. Ever take a HOT-pocket to the groin? It's like napalm.
