I drive a 4 window shorty and it runs on propane.
For emergencies I carry a BBQ tank as a Jerry can. My problem is, I’m getting older and can’t lift a full tank into the back. I was thinking of getting a deer hanging hoist to lift the tank, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. 😊

I hope your not talking about leaving it hanging while you drive....
why not post a pic of the back of the bus and maybe someone can come up with a nice idea?

Just spitballin' here, but you could get a larger tank, like two or three times bigger than the BBQ type, and have it mounted up underneath, with an auxilliary port that you could fill like any BBQ tank at a hardware store. You could even connect the two and have like a dual-tank setup like a pickup.

I don't know the particulars of a deer hoist, but I think that'd work great for your situation.

Depending on how the hardware works on those, I might be tempted to swap whatever lines and bs is on it with a simple block and tackle, though mounting a proper cleat might be a task to yard out to a youngun.

Obviously a propane tank should be lowered slowly, and I don't know if these hoists care that much about the deer

There is a thing sold at harbor freight. You are intended to mount in the bed of pick up truck. Have a mount made for your bumper. Use this little hydraulic lift to pick up the tank and place it in your door way.

Are you a bit overweight on your bus? Your bottom is very low to the ground.

The KOA near me will fill my tanks without me unloading them or they will help. You could look for places that fill them where your vehicle can get close. Alternately, start working out and eating protein. Never too old!

They work pretty good. I have a couple of them. Work really good for a deer. As for lifting heavy items, they work it just takes a little while winching it up. They are not very fast. The other problem is storing it when not in use.

If that's the route you want to go I have a brand new one for sale in Portland Oregon if you are close.
