Window Seal help

I'm having a leaky window issue. I have tried to no avail finding replacement rubber channel seals for my bus windows. CR Laurence came the closest (too deep of channels). I've been told to caulk along each window pane. I have zero experience with caulking, so I'm nervous. Thoughts on other options? Have others gone this route? Any information would be helpful! See pics.

Not a true permanent fix, but good enough for my needs, I ran a bead of something like the stuff linked below around the two panes of glass I had that leaked at the rubber seal.

Are you positive it is the window that is leaking? Water could be getting in from a roof seam and trickling down to that particular window.

is this a navistar chassis with a carpenter body?


Carpenter windows are NOTORIOUS for this issue.. I have been told an automotive glass shop can fix these.. ive simply replaced mine with junkyard bus windows that are still good..

I am. We've sealed the roof completely.

I stopped by my local automotive glass place, and they said they wouldn't do anything. I'm unable to find a junk yard with these windows near me. How did you find one? Oh, snd yes, it's a Carpenter body.

I've had luck with Both Thomas and Girardin bus dealers looking up parts, sharing info and selling me window seals. I was under the assumption they wouldn't want to deal with some guy with one old bus, but that was not the case.

How messy/time consuming was it to caulk each pane?

Not bad. I taped the glass about 1/8" from the gasket with painters tape, and then just took my time running the bead of caulk along the glass-and-rubber seam. The stuff I used was very thick, and STICKY, so as long as I got it pretty clean, I didn't touch anything and just pulled off the tape before it all dried to make the bead look more straight. For me it took probably 10 minutes for each window, maybe 15, not a big deal, but then again I only needed to do two windows.

Sorry if I'm late to the party. The 1/4" to 19/64" channel for 1/8" glass worked perfect for my 2004 Thomas windows. Try this website.
