We have a representative democracy but it hasnt represented the will of the people in a long time.
That's why Im a sanders supporter. I also think that the greatest country in the world can and should guarantee the health, education, and safety of it's peoples. Im tired of paying so much for war. I want to spend money in this country on this country!

Wife and I are selling the house and everything else to move into the skoolie full time, travel, and live life to the fullest.

Basically working for the rest of our life to retire and then live life sounds like a scam, to us anyway. I do not see the point in working hard for the next 40+yrs so that when I'm 65 I can go out and travel and have fun. When I could just go out and do it now.

Do I think everyone's tiny house is a good idea for me? No, hope it works for them. The bus towing a vehicle makes more sense to me. Like an RV but 110x better., Plus building it will allow me to fix it when it breaks.

I agree, tiny houses are a fad. Buses are here to stay, and go. If you live in a bus you're already revolting against society for whatever reasons. Loosing all the excess baggage of a regular life isn't really that difficult or painful. You can always go to Goodwill and look at the stuff other people toted around until they died.

I think buses are green. Yes they use a considerable amount of fuel if you actively drive them. Most of us are not constantly traveling and I'd guess the carbon footprint would be lower overall than a regular home.

Most importantly when visiting your friends in the tiny house, don't eat the salad.

Look at old 40's and 50's footage of trailers and parks and look at those same parks today... These hundred square foot pads will be the new trailer, and the demographics will shift as well as the decor. Just my 2 cents on that.

Thank you, haha. Ya I totally agree that buses are green. Your giving them a new life that they would never have had. Like you said the carbon footprint even if you drove a fair amount it would still be considerably less than an average US home.

I agree that I think the tiny houses themselves are a bit of a fad. However I think that tiny living is going to keep growing. There is only so much land/housing to go around. The worlds population is continuously rising and many countries all ready live in tiny spaces. My $0.02

We plan on retiring and traveling the country in 1180 days. We have a mid sized blue bird bus that we are 90% complete in converting. We will be towing a smart car for local excursions on our journey. I am retiring at 62 and even though I have to take a cut in social security , its worth it.. There are a lot of things that can happen in three extra years of waiting for full benefits (health concerns, etc..) . Of course we have had to go to "Plan B" many times during the renovation process but overall its going to be a comfortable and functional vehicle when completed. check it out at www.Schoolbusadventures.com

really thiough isnt every one onb this forum for a likely different reason? some are here to make tiny homes, others to collaborate building an RV either because of budget or for fun or to say rthe cool RV they are in is built by them...

yet others (like myself) just plain Love school busses.. when I was a kid darn near every day I begged the bus driver to let me drive the Bus.. the church pastor finally let me take the SUperior out to fill it with gas every week... and I was in pire heaven for those 6 blocks I got to drive it to the station and back.

if I didnt live in a city with "regular" parking lots.. and small spaces i might very well drive a skoolie as my daily driver...

no one here is any "less" than any other.. its a community.. if that OP's friend doesnt gain something from reading the forum then the simple answer is just dont click on the link anymore...

my first Skoolie, the one that burned up, I drove around quite a bit till I got crazy busy starting a business...

my new Skoolie is going to become an integral part of my work and though process...
often when im having a mental block working on hard software / hardware design projects.. I pack up and drive.. sometimes for hours and hours at a time...

then I stop at a hotel, set upo a complete test lab... and work.. and walk.. and if the environment is wron I have to pack up and go..

alas my new Skoolie will not be my sleeping quarters.. however it will become a Mobile software and Hardware Development Lab... to be able test gear and what not... can I pull it off? I have no idea.. but point is I could care less if others think itrs dumb or un-trendy(as menrtioned by another post).. or not RV enough... or etc.. our busses, our dreams.. all different and its cool as **** to share in what others are doing

once I get my exact bus set down and ready to bring home I'll update the profile.. I have one held in florida, I now need to go see it and drive it... the deasler also said i could change busses if he has something that I like better.. the advantage if this one is a fresh reman engine which works for me since I intend to run some miles..

I definitely plan on a bed / workspace so I can take breaks from the road.. and a small frig to keep my soda pop and reeses cups cold!.. its a diesel so I'll let it run when i take off-road rest-stop sleepy-breaks.. im not a camping type so I dont plan on a bathroom or shower..

I intend to keep some seats to make it an activity bus.. since it was a wheelchair bus the ceiling appears to be a bit taller than some others ive seen..

a big modification will be Air-Conditioning. I have done some great A/C builds in past vehicle projects so this one will be a new challenge in that respect.. esp to get A/C into the driver compartment and defrosting system.

im going to do some experimentation with constant pressure closed-loop evaporators..

im also working on the idea of some convertible workspace if I can find some old "low-back" Superior seats from the 70s and earlier busses before the regulations changed the requirements for taller seatbacks.. its entirely possible to have foldable workspace lay across the seat tops that way...

my goal is a mixed-use all piurpose vehicle.

this is gonna be fun!!
