WTB: <1995 ~30ft flat-nose, w/ DT466 + MT643

Lol we are looking for the same thing, closest I came was a DT466(E?) w AT545 on Govdeals.com near Williamsburg VA. I thought it might come around again, they had four of em.

Also National bus sales had a DT466(E?) w Allison 2000 but I don't see it in the inventory anymore.

Then there is this but its got 305k on the dash:

10456 - aaabussales.com

I found that listing this week too. It's only 100 miles from me but ultimately not what I'm looking for (and too expensive). What exactly are you looking for? I scoured the the depths of the internet this week and found a couple great leads off the beaten path. I'll send them to you if you want.

Send em! I'm looking for something Front engine, mid sized, eventually I want to tow a car/mid size SUV so I'm trying to keep the length down and power up. I want a wheelchair lift for my motorcycle, at the rear or middle is fine, and A/C. That Genesis would be perfect with less miles just haven't seen many. So to be specific: Amtran Genesis, TC2000, International 3800

I finding myself trying to figure what's more important getting a DT466 or avoiding a AT545?

Its way easier to upgrade the trans than it is the engine.

the AT545 isnt a Bad transmission, its a workhorse.. sure there are better and newer transmissions out there but the AT545 isnt likely to fly apart unless you greatly "enhance" the motor or neglect its filters / temperature..

plus AT545's are everywhere if you do nuke one chances there is someone ready to Give one away!

Yes there is. I have an AT545 that anyone can have for free. Was functioning when taken out. Just PM me.

ha! I probably shouldve snagged it from ya when i was out there.. now that I have 2 busses with 545's... of course there is the secret "ulterior" motive that If i nuke one of the 545's its time to UPGRADE! to a 1000...
-Christopher

Awww...if that happens go for a 2200!

the 1000 is a Near direct drop-in for the 545 on DEV.. and id still have 6 gears... i think when I looked at the 2200 the SAE is different as well if I remember right..

CAC makes a kit specially for mechanical engines...

on the new bus..

with my T-444E i could easily use a 2000 series as the existing comouter will run it.. plenty of version of it made to fit the T-444.. I just have to shorten one of the driveshafts.. which is easily done.. (well for me OI take it to my fav driveshaft guy in columbus ohio.. who's been building me custom shafts for years)..

I love little indie shops... usually good work and Honest answers...
my fav engine blocl guy retired.. so i dont know who im gonna use if I have to get a block or heads worked now..

Not sure what you have but my 2200 MH is an SAE 3 and only needs a TPS to talk to the engine. Pretty easy plug and play. Especially when paired with an all mechanical. Some earlier models require a LOT of programming/hacking skills to get them to function properly.

the DT-360 in the DEV is an SAE2 and the 1000 can be bought that way... and like yours its lates gen can be bought run with just a TPS... in fact CAC makes a "cable based TPS" thats designed to fit exactly in the bracket under the hood that an AT545 shift cable did.. and it uses this for the input of the transmission..

on that bus the carrier bearing plate bracket can be flipped aroud and its almost exactly the 3/4" Difference in the trans length from an AT545.. and the rear driveshaft slip yoke even with the air-suspension dumped all the way down still has over an inch.. so might not have to shorten either driveshaft..

on the newer Bus a 2100 series can be installed easily.. becasuse that is a T-444E motor the ECM is already capable of running an allison transmission.. that bus was offered with it as an option.. 2100 series in 5 speed mode.. a jumper wire on the ECM and then connecting the COmmunication bus to it and supposedly it will recognixe the allison when plugged into the Servicemaxx software and be ready to go... the ECM is already built with the code to run a 5 speed variant and shift it at the proper time..
that bus is already capable of running 70 MPH now that I turned off the vehicle speed governor.. I of course left the RPM limit set at the stock safe value of 2700.. though the books say it can easily be 3200 and not hurt stuff.. but its easy to see that the TQ / HP peaks are at 2500 or so ..alas running the RPM's up would only lead to less engine life.. the bus already has decent tires.. but when I do get new ones I'll probably go form 32" to 34" tires and lower my RPM's a bit more... with it using 19.5" tires they cost significantly less than the 11R22.5's I put on DEV... and tires cost significantly less than new transmissions.. lol
