I've got a complete VF500 in parts scattered across our garage. One of these days I'll have to put it together. Sharon's been waiting on me to do that for... decades lol. I think once the bus is done I might finally get around to it.

TW200 looks nice

We carry a Vstar650 in the back of the bus (modified my wheelchair ramp to stow and deploy)

But I have one of the holy grails for the grocery getter. On the back custom hitch I carry a Vintage KE100.


however I have been, during winter, toying with the idea of replacing the Vstar with something a bit smaller in size. The garage was designed to hold the Vstar and other things, but bored I have been looking at other things, particularly a larger enduro that will still be a bit smaller than a Vstar Classic (the bigger one)

I need something we can ride two up, and keep up with traffic so I'd say at least 65mph. We can 2 up on the KE, but that's only like to the camp store, down the lane to the beach or something very short and easy... we're too heavy combined for any serious riding of that. It is for quick easy errands, and one day when we head west it will be handy to take on some trails or something if they are around...

I'd prefer to buy something vintage but in good shape, but typing "Enduro" in marketplace doesn't yield as much. You need to know particular names and model #s to search better.

Any other good suggestions for a med size street or enduro that rides 2 up fairly comfortably? I'm not going to drop $7k on a bike so that TW200 nice as it is the missus would never authorize the funds.

As a possible alternative, there is the Suzuki 200 Van Van. Looks like the TW200 but more of a 70's retro look. I don't think they sold those in massive numbers, but for the intended use for us, it also makes sense.

My first ever street legal bike was a 1973 Yamaha R5C

A 2-stroke 350 street bike looked a little like the van van style posted above.

When I went into the service I left the bike in pieces in the basement of my great aunt's house... who passed...

My mums ******* husband (at the time) went over and as cleaning up threw away ALL the nuts and bolts to the thing. Back before the internet.

I ended up trading it for a junky car got me to NC and died.

Today with the internet I look this bike up and it's worth A LOT

I recently sold my old, trusty KLR650 which rode in a rack on the back of one of our ambulance conversions. It was a great bike, but more bike than my wife wanted to try...and we'd love something that's interchangeable. Looking at some of the new bikes, though, made me re-think that sale. When I had to ask what the ADMU line item on the new-bike pricing sheet was...Added Dealer Mark Up...I ended up walking away from that...

Tell me about it. Any bike these days covid or not is going for top dog with all the added dealer fees. I did find an alternative with a bike that's not off road capable, but weighs in at 300lbs and can do 87mph with its little 26hp 200cc engine. I got it out the door brand new for 5k. We really don't plan on using it if we went off road with the bus but for when parking at a truck stop we can go explore the cities. My wife won't ride on her own. She's never been comfortable even riding a 250cc Yamaha Morphous scooter we had. Granted that was as long as a Cadillac and over 400lbs.

Try an early to mid 2000’s XT 225 these are really reasonable and lovely to ride

I bought the above bike. For the power to weight ratio, it simply could not be beat. Honestly any "skinny" bike under 300lbs with highway capability is what I was looking for. I don't want a stray dog to be able to grab mine or my wife's ankle trying to ride away! LOL

I bought a HF predator 3500 inverter generator some time back. It was the best machine I have ever abused in my business that I bought a second one. HF has really upped the ante on Chinese made tools since I was a young kid. I have since sold those two generators for what I paid for as a pair. Found a diesel Onan 7.5kw genny for the bus. Now I let the GC's bring their own generators for job site use.

Hehe, seriously though, I might go look for a moped (50cc and under) to tie me over as you don't need special licensing for that in WA.

Thats ok Beirdo, I don't even know how to shift bikes. Been riding large displacement scooters for years. Getting used to a clutch on the left instead of a brake might be what takes time to get comfortable with. Gotta start somewhere, right? I know my limitations which is why I chose that bike above. surprising power and acceleration without being able to pop wheelies intentional or accidental is a good thing.
