So I belong to a FB group where the owners of this bus belong. They built safely. The passengers were all belted in to Chevy Tahoe seats that were mounted to legs and bolted through the floor. That was my plan for my build and am confident now.

Out of curiosity...do you know if the bolts were directly into the sheet metal floor or were they bolted through the sheet metal floor and through additional steel supports below? Thank you.

You can bolt seat belts through the sheet metal floor with grade 8 bolts and use seat belt washers on the bottom . These washers are heavier and large diameter. Use the correct size for your bolts and the largest bolts your seat frames will handle without modification.

Seat belt washers are sold under that name.

Smoke detectors were mentioned.. On our last glampout the diesel air heater was having issues and wasn't running clean, the CO detector sounded off nicely. I turned off the heater and fired up a Buddy unit that had been sitting for quite a while, the dust on the element had to burn off, that set off the smoke detector!
Good system check, all passed.

Yeah a lot of folks go for aesthetics vs practicality.
I'll have a full wall behind the "cab".

How are you building your wall behind the “cab”? I feel this is the safest route to go. Are your seats mounted to the bus framework or the metal floor? My passenger seats (behind drive not next to) would have 2 rear facing car seats with a LATCH system.
